Launching a Startup...Snag #1

I'm less than pleased with our web address. We came up with a quirky, cool name for the company that yielded zero search results in Google. The lawyer did his search and has determined we are good to start business as REcycle Homes, LLC. Yay!

Everything was going great until we began construction on our first project; this website. Recyclehomes .com and recyclehome .com are both taken. RecyclehomeS .com (with our "S") isn't being used for anything, and recyclehome .com is "for sale" for $2,000. "For sale" is in quotes because did you know it only costs $12 a year to own a web address? Someone is holding the url of our business name hostage (notice hostage is not in quotes) for $2,000. How long will it take them to realize that they are wasting $12 a year, because we will never buy it. 

Our other alternative was recyclehomes.net. We decided on recyclehomesllc.com just to keep the .com and hopefully prevent too much confusion between .net and .com. But man how much I wish recyclehomes .com would come back. I can't stand it.   

REcycle is spelled like that for a reason, but I'm not going to explain it until the next blog post in this series on running a startup.
